Bestest.
Bestest.
Sep 13Today, as we walked outside for recess, Lorenzo, our line leader, whispered, “Mrs. ______ can I tell you something?” Yes, he still calls me ‘Mrs.’ and it hasn’t gotten to me yet.
Now, we’re supposed to be silent in the hallways. It’s not an easy feat for kindergartners. Dare I say, it can be impossible, but we do our best. Normally, I would shake my head ‘no’ and keep walking, but this kid just kills me with his sweetness. I had to wait for some friends to catch up with our line anyway, so I knelt down so he could whisper into my ear.
“You are the bestest teacher in the whole world. You and Mrs. D. is the bestest,” he smiled as he hugged me.
I’m glad I broke the rules for him.

Sometimes you just HAVE to make an exception. I blogged about that very concept here if you want to read it:
Make An Exception

Isn’t it great that we get the ‘instant gratification’ of knowing EXACTLY what is on their hearts and minds. It only requires the attention to listen.
KUDOS for hearing what is being expressed!
So sweet! This makes my heart warm and fuzzy! Glad you both were able to break the rules!
I remember a study in college explaining how it takes more time not to listen (as kids are persistent) than it does to just STOP and listen.
I agree, you are the bestest!
