Well, all of the major networks are rolling out their Fall lineups, trying to get folks excited about the new and returning shows (for my personal taste, a little less reality and little more comedy), so I figure, why not me as well.  I’ve got a few surprises up my sleeve and I love giving a little teaser.

First of all, what do you think of the new look?  I actually bit the bullet and hired someone out to help me polish things up a bit.  It’s been two years since I started this amazing journey of reflection and sharing and I figured if our classrooms got an overhaul each summer as we got ready to head back, why not my blog as well?  I tried to keep it simple, but make it a little easier to read, navigate, and comment.

Now on to the really good stuff… I will be reviewing the amazing Angela Watson’ Awakened: Change your Mindset to Transform your Teaching.  Angela’s an amazing resource and the back of the book says “Effective teaching requires serious mental fortitude.  This book will empower you to develop the resilient, flexible, positive mindset you need.”  Sign me up!

I’m saving this book to read in the first weeks of August to get me psyched up to go back.  I’m also going to be giving away a signed copy to one lucky reader!  I’m hoping whoever wins the book will read it and contribute to my review and thoughts too.

Once school begins, I’m looking forward to working with my fabulous, wonderful, and brilliant teaching partner Mrs. D. once more.  Our team teaching last year really was more than I could have hoped for and I can’t emphasize enough how much it has helped me grow as a teacher.

In those first few weeks, when we’re establishing rules, setting routines, and building our community, I’m super excited to be using Stuart Murphy’s new I See I Learn series in my classroom.  This new series was tailored made for Pre-K and Kindergarten classrooms to help build social skills by focusing on making friends, building confidence, playground safety, sequencing, cooperation, dealing with frustation, getting help when lost, and writing your name (a big deal for many of my new sprouts).

As excited as I am to be using and reviewing these books, I’m simply ecstatic to be giving away an entire set of books!  I’m not sure if I’m going to give one set away to a single winner or spread the wealth and give the individual books away (I’m leaning towards the latter), but this will be one giveaway not to be missed.

So there you have it – my Fall Preview.  I love the summer, but I can’t wait to get back to inspiring sprouts and getting hugs in return.
