All the way from Georgia I traveled

On a truck, in a crate, loud barking, crying, confusion

Where am I going?  Who will take me in?  How will I survive?

Light, dark, in, out, food, water, up, down

Cold, cold, cold, who knew it could get so cold?

Finally arrived, nobody is here for me so I’ll have to

Live with a foster family for awhile

The other dog doesn’t like me, maybe if I try to behave

But how does that go?

Days, weeks, months go by

I know I’m old, but boy do I know how to love

Finally, a visit, a new home, tail wagging, always my tail wagging

A man gets down on the floor, low, near me, I can reach his face

And kiss it

Over and over

This is love

This is home.
